Mesa Global Services recently completed an Installation and Operational Qualification (IOQ) on two large freezers that are used for the storage of USDA regulated products. The System Information and the electrical utility supply information for the freezers verified and documented prior to the temperature mapping of the freezers.
30 DataTrace MPRF data loggers were utilized to verify that the freezers could maintain the ‑20°C ± 10°C specified temperature range, as required by the customer. The MPRF data loggers were distributed in the left, middle, and right areas of the top, middle, and bottom levels of the freezers to ensure that all areas of the freezers were being monitored. The MPRF data loggers were programmed to record data every 5 minutes and temperature mapping was performed for 24 hours. When the mapping was completed, the data was reviewed and conclusively showed that all areas of the freezers were able to reach and maintain temperatures within the required -20°C ± 10°C range.
After the temperature mapping was verified to have been successfully completed, we tested the ability of the freezers to recover to the required temperature range after the door was opened. This testing showed that the freezers were able to recover to the normal operating temperature after having the door opened for an extended period of time. This testing is beneficial as it shows that during normal operations if the freezer door is required to be opened for a longer than normal duration, the freezer can quickly recover to the normal operating temperature.
The execution of the IOQ documents was successful for both freezers, and the Mesa Global Services document package that was delivered to the customer can easily be defended to any regulatory authority.
