With the summer months approaching, now is the time to start thinking about having your product storage areas temperature mapped. The warehouse should be temperature mapped during both the hottest and coldest times of the year in order to ensure that the items being stored in your warehouse are being kept at optimal conditions year round.
Mapping your storage areas in the summer months will provide data about the hottest locations (hot spots) in the product storage areas. Knowing where these hot spots are allows for the adjustment of the HVAC system to better control the storage environment, or lets you know if items need to be moved to another location so that they are not damaged or compromised in any way.
Temperature mapping of these areas should be done for a minimum of 3-7 days using data loggers that can accurately measure a wide range of temperature and humidity conditions. The data loggers used should be placed throughout the storage areas in a manner that provides sufficient coverage of all of the area where products are or could potentially be stored.
By performing the summer temperature mappings for your product storage area, you can rest assured that your products are being kept at the correct environmental conditions at all times.
